Standard Hinge Holes?

Well, let's be clear; there is NO overall standard for Kitchen Door Hinge holes ... this is why we offer our customers the flexibility to position the hinge holes exactly where they need them to be ...

  • Hole Diameter

this is the big hole that the hinge mechanism fits into.

    It is always 35mm.

  • Hole Inset

this is how far in, from the edge of the door front the hole is.

    This is always 4mm-5mm.

  • Hole Depth

The hinge mechanism is usually 11mm-12mm thick.

    This is always 13mm.

  • Fixing Holes

Some hinge designs have none, so we don't drill fixing holes.

    None.

Floor or Base Cupboard Doors

A Base Cupboard door is usually between 550mm and 720mm tall, and these doors tend to have two hinges and the door opens left (left hung) or right (right hung).

One at the top, and yep, one at the bottom.

Usually the hinge holes are positioned the same distance from the edge of the door, but not always.

We always ask you to measure from the TOP edge of the door to the centre of the hinge holes.

Wall Cupboard Doors

A Wall Cupboard door is usually about 720mm tall, and like Base Cupboard Doors, these doors tend to have two hinges and the door opens left (left hung) or right (right hung).

One at the top, and yep, one at the bottom.

Usually the hinge holes are positioned the same distance from the edge of the door, but not always.

We always ask you to measure from the TOP edge of the door to the centre of the hinge holes.

Tall Cupboard Doors

Mid or Tall Cupboard Doors

A Mid-height or Tall Cupboard door is usually between 850mm and 2200 tall, but like Base Cupboard Doors, these doors tend to have more hinges fitted. Again the door opens left (left hung) or right (right hung).

One at the top, and yep, one at the bottom but sometimes 1 or 2 more in between.

Don't worry, the process is just the same, it is just 3 or 4 measurements rather than 2.

We always ask you to measure from the TOP edge of the door to the centre of the hinge holes.

Top Cupboard Doors

A Top Cupboard door is usually about 350mm tall with two hinge holes being required. However, these are classed as top hung doors; basically the hinges are at the top!

One on left, and yep, one on the right but this time along the top edge.

Usually the hinge holes are positioned the same distance from the edges of the door, but not always.

We always ask you to measure from the LEFT edge of the door to the centre of the hinge holes.
